A second Maspeth business has been targeted with a Molotov cocktail over the past week.
The Grand Ave Pet store on Grand Avenue and 73rd Street was damaged after the cocktail was thrown just after midnight. Damage could have been worse if employee Jose Cardona didn’t use a hose, which happened to be outside luckily. The flames were gone by the time firefighters appeared.
There’s surveillance footage showing the suspect with the Molotov cocktail briefly before attacking the pet store. The video also shows that he accidentally set himself on fire with the homemade bomb before taking off.
Last week, a Maspeth strip club was hit with two Molotov cocktails.
