Martin Luther’s basketball season kicks off today at 1:30PM vs. Kew Forest School.

The JV game will start at 1:30PM and the Varsity game will start at 3PM.  Games are at Martin Luther | 60-02 Maspeth Ave, Maspeth, NY 11378.

JV performed well in their pre-season scrimmages, with returning juniors Andres Bultrago and Andrew Garcia leading the charge. Underclassmen Nico Royster, Tyler Ortiz and Will Ortiz have added the size and toughness needed to compete at a high level in the JV division.

Varsity went 4-0 in their pre-season scrimmages, and won 3 out of their 4 scrimmages by over 30 points. Returning seniors, Isaiah Kablack, Keith Miller, Michael Thomas, and Juan Troche, have set the tone defensively very early in the pre-season while providing strong leadership.

Freshman Cameron Thompson and Juniors, Elijah Moses, Kevin Ogyiri, and Cristian Reyes, have been phenomenal throughout the pre-season. Their pressure defense has given teams nightmares, combining for over 12 steals per game, thus far. Their fast paced offense results in fast breaks, ankle breaking highlights and open shots.
