An emotionally disturbed person barricaded himself inside a Maspeth home earlier today.
According to police, they received a call at about 2:10 p.m., of the person barricading himself at a home on 52nd Avenue between 73rd Street and 74th Street. The immediate area was closed to traffic while police got the situation under control.
After about three hours, police were able to take a 68-year-old man into custody and remove him to Elmhurst hospital. The residence was checked for weapons but a search yielded negative results.
