Update (2:30 p.m.): Traffic is moving again. It appears to have taken roughly three hours to clear up the accident.

A large Parks Department truck was turned over in the middle of Grand Ave. at the corner of 72nd St. earlier today, completely closing down the street and building up blocks of traffic.

The truck, which looks like it is used for tree trimming, was pulled onto its side when a delivery truck got caught on the Parks Dept. truck’s white extension arm, according to police officers on the scene.

The driver of the delivery truck did not realize that he had snagged the back of the other vehicle and kept driving, only stopping once the large orange truck had been completely pulled over onto its side.

The officer said that the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. and that the drivers of both vehicles were fine.

He also said that the accident should be cleared up soon.

“It should be cleaned up soon. There should be a heavy duty tow coming to get it soon,” he said.

Danielle Mascia, who works at Connolly’s on the corner of Grand and 72nd right at the scene of the accident,

walked out of work to see what was going on.

“I saw the firetrucks coming up the street, and I saw them kind of slow down, so I went into the party room,”

Mascia said. “I couldn’t believe I didn’t hear anything. You would think with a truck like that, you would hear a big crash.”
