Blast From The Past, 1940s Maspeth

Currently on display inside Maspeth Federal Savings are 1940s era photos of Maspeth, Queens.

The Newtown Historical Society presents their second exhibit “Maspeth in the 1940s.” The exhibit can be seen in the windows of the newly renovated bank building, it’s easily visible from the street. The series is presented in conjunction with Q Gardens Gallery which is owned and operated by historian Ron Marzlock.

The photos on display show life in Maspeth during and after WWII. Some of the photos featured are the opening of Maurice Park, Grand Avenue street scenes featuring trolleys, and the interior of a cigar and candy store.
