Earlier this month, Maspeth Selfhelp Senior Center honored Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley for her commitment to funding for local senior centers.

Each year, Crowley has allocated money to the Peter Cardella Senior Center, the Ridgewood Older Adult Center, Maspeth Selfhelp Senior Center, the Middle Village Adult Center and the Woodhaven-Richmond Hill Senior Center.

Through City Council dollars, Maspeth Selfhelp has been able to offer classes in Tai Chi, ESL, yoga, needlepoint, jewelry making, computer classes, transportation services and more.

“I feel privileged to help them each year and keep our seniors’ minds and bodies active,” Crowley said. “Seniors are truly the foundation to our community, and it’s important they remain a priority to this city.
