Car Crash At Maspeth Memorial Square

The hustle & bustle of normal Grand Avenue traffic on a sunny Saturday was disturbed just after noon as an elderly man apparently driving on the service road of the LIE lost control of his black sedan and drove over a bench near the corner bus stop and then though the iron gate surrounding Maspeth Memorial Square. His car came to rest at the entrance – pictured here.

Thankfully there were no pedestrians along the path although the man and someone who was reported as a woman passenger were removed from the car and transported to the hospital.
