The Metropolitan Avenue Bridge over Newtown Creek, between Maspeth and Williamsburg Brooklyn is scheduled for routine cleaning (including cleaning of the bridge sidewalks) on Friday night, March 28, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.  One lane at a time may be closed between midnight and 5:00 a.m. The cleaning isn’t connected in any way with the planned capital work on the bridge. Stolen Norman Rockwell painting recovered

After going missing last September from a Maspeth storage facility located at 58-60 Grand Ave., a Norman Rockwell painting, entitled “Sport,” has been recovered by a private investigator, The Wall Street Journal reports. The painting was being stored at WelPak, a storage facility offering specialty storage, shipping and installation services for fine art dealers, museums and collectors, according to the company website. Today the Department of Transportation installed a series of barriers along Grand Avenue at 69th Place for traffic control.
