Maspeth resident slams trash near PS 153

One Maspeth resident is sick and tired of living next to piled up garbage on his corner everyday.

Nicholas Gallina, who lives on 60th Road near PS 153, has voiced his concerns about the trash pileup.

The garbage is only picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays, Gallina said, so the bags sit out for days.

Meanwhile, containers of milk are ripped open by cats and raccoons, letting the milk run out down the street in front of residential homes.

“Nothing’s been done,” Gallina said. “It’s really unsightly to begin with.”

The Maspeth resident has reached out to the school, a local elected official and DSNY, but so far, “nothing has changed.”

“Anytime you have a problem with illegal dumping, call me or email me, I will report it,” Assemblyman Brian Barnwell said in a phone interview. “It’s an ongoing problem, but I will constantly report it.”
