Last November, Maspeth’s “Step Street,” a municipal staircase near 53rd Avenue and 64th Street, was transformed into “Easter Rising Way.”
It’s co-named to commemorate the long fight for Irish independence, and got a nice makeover thanks to the Horticultural Society of New York and Department of Transportation.
Through New York City’s Greener Initiative, the “Hort” will continue to pay seasonal visits to Easter Rising Way to ensure the staircase stays beautiful all year round.
This past weekend, the step-street was weeded, pruned and filled with perennials and shrubs. Here’s to hoping it stays like that!
