Good news for shop owners on Grand Avenue. Help is on the way.

Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley announced on Monday that she has allocated $225,000 for additional street cleaning and litter basket pickups on major commercial corridors in her district.

It’s part of a city initiative called CleanNYC that focuses on cleaning up major commercial thoroughfares.

“A clean corridor is not only welcoming for local residents and people visiting, it also helps our businesses grow,” Crowley said. “We all know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and their energy is best spend on growing their businesses.

With the funding, the Department of Sanitation will provide 39 weeks of additional service along Grand Avenue in Maspeth, Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village, Myrtle Avenue in Glendale, and Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood.
