On Thursday, officials unveiled the new design for the ball fields at Maspeth’s Frank Principe Park.

Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley spoke about the new plans for the park, which will begin construction in the fall. She put in $6.8 million for the project.

Half of this area will be a synthetic turf soccer field. The other half will be two synthetic turf softball fields.

Some special facilities will be added to the area as well, including misting stations, bleachers and water fountains.

The last renovation to Principe Park, then known as Maurice Park, was in the 1980s.

The community is very excited for the upcoming renovations.
