A Maspeth High School senior was recently awarded a highly coveted national scholarship.
Victoria Panata was selected to receive the Gates Millennium Scholarship out of 53,000 applicants. She will be attending Princeton University on a full ride. If Panata plans to pursue a graduate degree, the scholarship will cover that as well.
Established in 1999, the scholarship program strives to promote academic excellence among minority students with significant financial need. The scholarship comes with mentoring services, personal development and an online resource center that provides internship, fellowship and other scholarship information.
