The Knockdown Center is hosting a free Pysanka Egg Decorating workshop for all ages this Saturday in honor of Easter.

According to the event’s site, the word ‘pysanka’ comes from the Ukrainian verb ‘pysaty,’ which means ‘to write.’

There’s a special way to decorate the eggs, including the use of a ‘kitska’ a tool that melts beeswax. The beeswax is used to write on the eggs. Various colors of beeswax are added onto the egg and once the wax is removed, you can see your creations completed.

The workshop is on Saturday, March 26 from 2 to 6 p.m.
The Knockdown Center is located at 52-19 Flushing Ave in Maspeth.
