A proposed Ridgewood mixed-use building is committing 3,000 square feet of space for artists and community groups at a ridiculously inexpensive rental rate of $10 per year. The building will be located at 176 Woodward Ave.

This unusual feature for the property, which is zoned for industrial use, was added by the Slate Property Group in tandem with Councilman Antonio Reynoso. The developers will select the artists and community groups who use the space, but the tenants themselves can recommend how to divide and organize the space.

The proposed 88-unit building will also have affordable housing units and community spaces, according to the councilman’s office. The affordable housing units will be reserved and allocated to people earning between $23,000 to $105,000 per year.

The mixed-use building will also have 7,000 square feet of commercials space for industrial purposes, such as 3D printing, sources say.

This proposal was approved by the City Council this Tuesday. [DNAinfo]
